One of the rescued men, a gang leader named Peter Jaggers, contacted his associates immediately after being rescued, revealing that they had executed a plan to betray their Colombian suppliers. Jaggers had been acting as a middleman between Colombian cartels and the Bulgarian Mafia, facilitating the transportation of drugs. His plan involved keeping a significant cocaine shipment valued at around 1,500 lbs for himself instead of delivering it to the Bulgarians, a decision which would ultimately seal his fate.
