Currently, at least two significant wildfires are being tracked in the Texas Panhandle. One of these blazes is near the Pampa area, while another threatens the vicinity of Windmill, both situated approximately an hour and a half from Amarillo. These fires have already led to the evacuation of the entire town of Allen Reed due to an urgent need for safety as the Rest Area Fire has already consumed over 8,000 acres.
The Windmill Fire has also made its presence known, devouring about 1,500 acres. This unfolding disaster is drawing parallels to last year's Smokehouse Creek Fire, highlighting a continued vulnerability in the area to devastating wildfires.
