Influenced by the gang activity that permeated Brooklyn, Capone began associating with small-time gangs, ultimately working his way up to the notorious Five Points Gang. By 1917, he was employed by Frankie Yale, a prominent racketeer, where he began to hone skills that would later solidify his reputation. It was during this period that Capone acquired his infamous nickname "Scarface" following a bar fight that left a prominent scar on his face. Unfazed by his violent surroundings, Capone adopted the criminal lifestyle.
