Ironically, many of those responsible for constructing Sobibor were Jewish laborers who toiled under coercive conditions, oblivious to the grim fate awaiting them. Among these laborers was Shlomo Szmajzner, whose memoir, "Inferno em Sobibor," detailed the fear and confusion that pervaded the camp during its construction. This brutal irony marked the beginning of a nondescript facility that would soon claim the lives of hundreds of thousands.
