Part 5/9:

While Google has been developing its Tensor Processing Units (TPUs) for years, Microsoft has introduced specialized AI accelerators and, notably, Amazon has stepped up its efforts with custom chips known as Inferentia for inference and Trinium for training models. The strategy behind Amazon’s foray into chip production is clear: develop solutions in-house once enough customer demand exists, allowing them to realize significant cost efficiencies.

Their custom Graviton processors have already made waves in the cloud computing arena, with reports indicating that half of AWS's new servers are now based on this technology. Amazon aims to replicate this success in the AI accelerator domain by marketing Trinium chips as significantly cheaper alternatives to Nvidia's offerings.
