Part 2/8:
The S&P 500 closed up 1.8%, achieving a weekly gain of 5.7%, marking its best performance since November 2023. However, it is essential to note that it still remained down 4.4% for the month. Meanwhile, the NASDAQ increased by 2.1% following reassuring statements from Susan Collins, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, who indicated that the Fed is prepared to intervene if financial conditions worsen.
Despite the uplift in equity markets, other segments displayed unease. The US dollar fell nearly 1% against a basket of currencies, hitting its lowest point since April 2022 before making a slight recovery. The benchmark 10-year Treasury yield rose to 4.47%, following a volatile pattern earlier in the week.
