Part 1/6:
The Impact of US-China Trade War on Shipping and Trade
The ongoing trade war between the United States and China has reached a critical juncture, resulting in substantial disruptions to trade and shipping operations. Reports have surfaced about containers piling up at major Chinese ports, as tariffs and shipping disruptions send shockwaves through the export supply chain.
Port Congestion and Shipping Halts
As of April 11, significant congestion has been reported at several major ports in China, including those in Zhejiang, Guangdong, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. The tariffs imposed by the U.S. on Chinese goods—now reaching a staggering 145%—have caused freight operations to come to a near halt, leading to a backlog of containers waiting to be shipped.
