Part 2/10:
One of Candy's most recognizable roles came unexpectedly in the 1983 movie, National Lampoon's Vacation. Initially, the ending featured the Griswald family confronting the founder of Wally World, which flopped during test screenings. Director Harold Ramis realized this misstep and, after consulting with screenwriter John Hughes, decided to pen a new scene: Candy as a theme park security guard who delivers the iconic line, "Sorry folks, the park's closed." This clever late addition became a pivotal moment that not only salvaged the film but also highlighted Candy’s remarkable ability to enhance a script with his improvisational skills.
