Part 9/12:
Developed in the late 1940s, Lustron homes were prefabricated all-steel houses introduced to address the post-World War II housing crisis. Designed to be durable and low-maintenance, they came as kits requiring assembly. Unfortunately, financial issues led to the collapse of the Lustron Corporation, but over 2,000 homes were still constructed, many of which persist today. These innovative homes were notable for their easy maintenance and unique designs, featuring metal interiors and compact storage solutions.
