Despite the claims that men collectively abandoned dating, many are simply stepping back from the scene rather than entirely disengaging. There is a suggestion that men find fulfillment in hobbies and circles independent of dating, concentrating their efforts elsewhere. Thus, when events are constructed to lure them back into the dating fold, the turnout is disappointing.
A notable contributor to the failure of singles events appears to be the misalignment of attractors. Many women still look for high-value men—the top 10%—who typically do not need to pursue such events at all. Instead, the men who do show up often get dismissed based on superficial judgments, reinforcing a cycle where attractive, eligible men are never present.
