Beyond our actions, the logic of productivity seeps into our identities. We define ourselves by our jobs, leading to a destructive cycle where our self-worth hinges on external validation. When work diminishes, so too does our sense of self. By linking our identities to job titles and professional roles, we become what has been termed a "rented identity," subject to our productivity and the expectations of a system designed to exploit us.

Relationships, too, become transactional. With networking dominating social exchanges, genuine connections dissolve in favor of professional interests. This incessant need to quantify every aspect of our lives undermines our ability to simply be, to exist without the obligation of productivity.
