When a player gets cut or released, it isn’t always straightforward. Anneli discusses several terms used in the industry—non-tendered, designated for assignment (DFA), and released—with each term carrying its own implications. Being non-tendered, for instance, means that a player is removed from the 40-man roster, usually due to performance issues or injuries, transitioning them into free agency. Conversely, if designated for assignment, a player might be removed from a roster but can still return if cleared through waivers.
