Adding to the drama, Aaron Judge, one of the league’s star players, prepared for his turn at the plate with the game on the line. Despite being traditionally non-productive against Diaz, with an 0-for-2 history prior to this pitch, Judge represented hope for the Yankees. The intense matchup reached fever pitch as the count went to 0-2, but Judge managed to stay alive with a couple of foul tips before the tension culminated at a full count.
The stakes could not be higher as the crowd remained anxiously on their feet, cheering for their respective teams. Diaz threw a 99 mph fastball up high, striking Judge out to end the game. The save secured by Diaz capped off a remarkable outing, with the reliever successfully completing 10 save opportunities this season.
