The concept of reinvention is easier said than done. At its core, it requires the destruction of the old self—the person I had been up until that moment. In my case, that meant saying goodbye to Michael the mobster. This was no simple task; it demanded a painstaking metamorphosis to become someone entirely new, someone I could aspire to be—hopefully much improved. The challenge was not merely to change my surroundings, but to reframe my very identity.
