The historical evolution of the American educational system—which emerged in the industrial age to meet labor requirements—has led to a convoluted structure that may no longer serve its primary role of educating youth effectively. In fact, data shows that children once attended school for a fraction of the time they do today, learning substantially within those months.
For many, this raises the issue of the effectiveness of our current education system. It appears that we have compromised quality for quantity.
