Born on April 14, 1941, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Peter Edward Rose showed a promising athletic talent early on. Under the mentorship of his father, Harry, Pete adopted a strong work ethic that would define his career. He was a switch-hitter from a young age and quickly excelled in both baseball and football during high school. At the age of 19, his career began when he signed with the Cincinnati Reds in 1960, initially as a catcher before transitioning to second base.
