The Fallout
Despite his stellar career, a dark cloud loomed over Pete Rose. In 1989, the Dowd Report was released, detailing Rose’s gambling on baseball games, which he vehemently denied at first. Rose's admission in 2004 about betting on Reds games for personal profit in his book My Prison Without Bars added further controversy, complicating his effort for redemption and reinstatement.
