In a pivotal move, the US Senate has voted to repeal California's waiver that allowed the state to set its own vehicle emission standards. This bill, now bound for President Trump's desk for signature, would also block California's ambitious plan to phase out internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles by 2035. Although California's mandate had been backed by 11 other states, automakers argued against it, claiming that the goals were unrealistic and would restrict consumer choices.
