State waivers have been granted to Indiana, Iowa, and Nebraska to restrict the purchase of unhealthy foods, including sugary drinks and energy beverages. He noted that the previous acceptance of funding unhealthy foods through taxpayer dollars was irrational. As a result, this new bipartisan approach seeks to reform SNAP towards promoting healthier lifestyle choices.
