This idea, created by Soviet astrophysicist Nikolai Kardashev in 1964, provides a systematic approach to explore the potential of civilizations as they evolve over time.
The Foundation of the Kardashev Scale
The Kardashev Scale comprises three primary types of civilizations:
Type I: A civilization that can harness all of the energy available on its home planet.
Type II: A civilization capable of utilizing the total energy output of its star.
Type III: A civilization that can harness energy from an entire galaxy.
