"The heat is everywhere," claims Heymi Bahar from the International Energy Agency (IEA). By drilling at depths exceeding 4,000 meters, the potential for geothermal energy can rival that of wind and solar resources. In essence, the deeper one drills, the more energy can potentially be harvested. With temperature gradients averaging around 25 to 30 degrees Celsius increase per kilometer, reaching the optimal depths of 4,000 to 7,000 meters could unlock energy resources sufficient to satisfy 150 times the global annual electricity demand.
