The Carlin family's involvement in the region’s early history is notable. In 1871, Charles Carlin, an assistant lighthouse keeper, eventually became the captain of the U.S. Life-Saving Station at the Jupiter Inlet. The Carlin family contributed to the region's development by building the first private residence in Jupiter in 1887. Similarly, the Tyndall House, built in 1892, and the Dubois House, established atop an Indian shell mound in 1898, are significant remnants of early pioneer life and community formation.
