Ned's widow, Lucy, remarkably chose to remain at Greystone with their children. She even remarried at the estate in 1932, continuing her life amidst the remnants of a personal tragedy.
Decline and Resurrection
As the years passed, the immense upkeep of Greystone became burdensome, leading to a gradual decline in its condition. In the 1950s, Lucy sold off portions of the property to developer Paul Trousdale, who transformed the area into what is now known as Trousdale Estates. In 1956, the mansion itself was sold to industrialist Henry Crown, who turned it into a film set.
