Statistics from May reveal that illegal encounters at the border had plummeted from nearly 118,000 last year to about 8,700 this past May, marking a staggering 93% decrease. Commenting on these changes, former Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Director Tom Homan also noted that the current administration's leadership has led to what he called the "most secure border in this nation’s history."
Banks reiterated that the numbers indicate a trend towards better border security, and the agency is not only recording fewer entries but is also impeding the progress of drug cartels operating across the border.
