Residents have taken matters into their own hands in an effort to mitigate the disturbances. Some have resorted to using cones or even positioning themselves to block the entrance to the charging lots during particularly noisy periods. Tensions have escalated to the point where Waymo has called law enforcement on several occasions to address the situation. Despite the community's attempts to notify city officials and the company, the issues persist, mainly due to the federal regulations that mandate electric vehicles to emit a noise when reversing in order to ensure pedestrian safety.
