The controversy gained traction when N2 publicly pointed out that many visual elements in the closed alpha version of Marathon closely resemble her design work created back in 2017. She stated that not only did Bungie's team use her art without acknowledgment, but they also failed to compensate her for it. What makes this case particularly troubling is the direct involvement of Bungie's art director, Joseph Cross, who reportedly follows N2 on social media, casting doubt on the company's claim of ignorance regarding the artist's work.
