The Evolving Landscape of Concert Tickets: From Albums to Mega Tours
In the late 1990s, purchasing a music album meant physically buying a CD, often for around $16. Adjusted for inflation, that cost is approximately $31 today. Despite the price, artists received only a fraction of that revenue: $0.15 on every dollar spent on an album directly benefitted the artist. However, this model rapidly disintegrated with the rise of file-sharing platforms—most notably Napster—which thrust the music industry into chaos.
