One of the first lessons gathered from Buffett's journey is that it's often better to be smart rather than simply talented. Jimmy Buffett, who has often faced criticism for his mediocre guitar skills and lackluster singing ability, has repeatedly proved that success comes from storytelling and business acumen. A pivotal moment in his career came from a chance encounter while walking down the streets of Key West. He picked up a guitar from a stranger and, although the stranger deemed him "not much of a player," Buffett had a quick retort: "I'm a poet, I'm a businessman, and those things will take me far."
