Despite impressive growth, a significant portion of the population remains hesitant or disconnected. About 39% of Americans do not use AI—primarily due to trust issues, privacy concerns, or lack of familiarity. Many prefer human interaction over AI (80%), and worries about data privacy (71%) and bias (40%) hinder adoption. Access barriers also persist, with 27% citing lack of tools.
