The term "spinster" has resurfaced in popular discourse, symbolizing women who remain single into their later years, often because they cannot find a partner who meets their lofty expectations. These women, who once might have been celebrated for independence, now face the harsh reality of aging without the traditional romantic or familial roles they once aspired to.
This phenomenon echoes the fate of men labeled as "incels," but in a female context — perhaps best described as "female incels" or "leftover women." They have effectively self-selected out of the gene pool, prioritizing career and personal freedom over union and family, only to discover that societal and biological realities are difficult to ignore as they age.
