Part 5/14:
Poier trains in Louisiana at his private gym, the Diamond Training Center, which contains mats, heavy bags, and just enough space for about six fighters at a time. This setup provides him with the freedom to train away from the crowds and distractions, avoiding fan fatigue and media nuisance.
His training regimen involves a mixture of gym work, sparring, wrestling, and conditioning through active training like swimming and sparring five or six weeks before fights. He relies heavily on a team—especially coach Mike Brown for fight strategy, and strength coach Phil DeRua for building resilience and durability. Poirier emphasizes that his conditioning often comes from the grind of actual training sessions rather than extra cardio drills, a method he believes is effective and authentic.
