Machinery has become more sophisticated, and farms have scaled up significantly, with Swanson now managing approximately 1,900 acres, a mix of owned land and investor holdings from afar, including Norway. These advances have led to larger operations, but also increased financial stresses, as the cost of machinery, inputs, and land continues to escalate.
