The Giants finally broke through in the third inning, capitalizing on a walk, a single, and a stolen base by Lindor to put runners in scoring position. Nimmo delivered again with a single, driving in Mauricio to make the score 1-0. Pete Alonso then extended the lead with a sacrifice fly, bringing in another run. After a couple of productive outs, the Mets led 2-0 heading into the bottom of the inning.
