Casting and Character Changes: A Disservice to Fans
The adaptation's casting choices drew immediate ire. J. Michael Cho as Spike and Mustafa Shakir as Jet are seen as competent but unremarkable, neither elevating the show, but their performances aren't outright failures. Conversely, the portrayal of Faye Valentine is disastrous. Neon describes her as obnoxious, unlikable, and snarky to the point of annoyance, with a costume and personality that feel far removed from the charismatic and alluring original.
