A simple Google search from 2016 would have revealed the adult parody, as well as its costume design—perhaps the first step any serious branding effort would undertake to prevent trademark conflicts. Yet, Marvel’s team seemingly overlooked or dismissed the existence of this parody, leading to an awkward situation where a major comic franchise adopted a name and visual aesthetic that closely echo a pornographic parody.
