Many creators and showrunners, like Rebecca Sugar of Steven Universe, have little control over their series once produced, as Cartoon Network or other corporate entities hold the rights. This means that even if a creator wishes to continue or revive a series, they are often prevented from doing so unless they buy back the rights, often at exorbitant costs.
