In the Japanese version of R-Type Final 2, players are introduced to a boss with a very provocative appearance. It sports a large, erect-like shaft ending in a vibrant pink, throbbing tip that moves up and down, jiggles, and changes color as it sustains damage. Gameplay footage shows this design in action, with the boss "throbbing" and appearing quite suggestive—especially for a game rated E10+. The visual gag wasn’t lost on players, who found the boss’s appearance quite humorous in its overt resemblance to male genitalia.
