As filming progresses and more information becomes available, fans and critics are cautiously optimistic—or outright skeptical. With the project's first teaser and official statements, including confirmation that Eiichiro Oda has signed off on the script, there remains a glimmer of hope.
However, given the track record and ongoing cultural debates around adaptation fidelity, the safest approach for most fans might be to “wait and see.” If Netflix can deliver a faithful, well-produced series that respects the original’s spirit, it will be a victory. If not, it could be yet another failed attempt to bring anime and manga into the live-action realm.
