Part 8/13:

Adding a bittersweet note, Cowboy Bebop creator Shinichirō Watanabe expressed uncertainty about whether Netflix would heed his input on the live-action adaptation. Watanabe, who served as a consultant and gave feedback during the development process, has openly acknowledged that once the project was handed over, his influence was limited.

In an interview with Bounding in the Comics, Watanabe noted, “I have no choice but to pray and hope it turns out good,” revealing a sense of helplessness common among original creators when dealing with Hollywood adaptations. He also pointed out that in transitioning from manga to anime, the original creator's input is often marginal, and ultimately, the final product reflects the studio and executive decisions.
