A report from gaming industry insider Pim Master Broda highlights that, as of the latest sales charts, the top 30 software titles in Japan are exclusively Nintendo titles—with all of them being Nintendo Switch games. Not a single PlayStation game appears in this top tier, marking a historical anomaly not seen since the NES era.
Given that historically Sony has commanded a significant share of Japanese game sales, this shift to Nintendo’s dominance is alarming. The Nintendo Switch, despite being less powerful than the PS5, continues to outsell and outperform Sony's consoles in Japan, owing largely to its extensive catalog of Japanese-developed titles and a more open, less censored ecosystem.
