Whereas Sony once championed Japanese titles like Final Fantasy, Metal Gear, and Kingdom Hearts, the current trend shows a move toward Western-centric titles and platforms. Nintendo’s willingness to support and publish diverse Japanese titles, coupled with its relaxed content policies, makes it a preferred choice for many developers.
Japanese developers themselves are increasingly supportive of Nintendo and even PC, bypassing PlayStation altogether. The shift away is not only due to cultural factors but also driven by economic and creative restrictions imposed or perceived at Sony.
