Historically, Disney offered the Fastpass system, including Fastpass Plus at Walt Disney World, which allowed guests to reserve access to certain attractions in advance, minimizing wait times. Guests could select up to three Fastpass+ reservations per day—typically involving one major E-ticket ride and two other attractions—allowing for a more streamlined experience without paying extra directly for these reservations.
However, Disney's latest move replaces this free system with a paid model called Lightning Lane. While the underlying idea remains to manage park capacity and distribute demand more efficiently, the new structure introduces additional costs for skipping lines.
