Part 6/11:
Austria provides another compelling story. The Austrian Freedom Party (FPÖ), a nationalist populist party akin to the AfD, secured its first-ever national victory during recent elections. Although Austria’s political establishment, including the traditional center and left wing, attempted to isolate and marginalize the FPÖ, their efforts have failed.
Instead of being frozen out of power, the FPÖ is poised to form a coalition government with the Austrian People’s Party, marking a historic shift. This mirrors similar trends across Scandinavia—most notably in Sweden, where the Sweden Democrats have moved from fringe to the forefront of the political landscape.
