Historically, Western strategies aimed to fracture China and Russia, as exemplified by Henry Kissinger's efforts during the Cold War to divide these two rising powers. The U.S., through diplomatic maneuvers and economic policies, succeeded in isolating the Soviet Union and later in bringing China into its trade orbit through Deng Xiaoping's policies of "managing capitalism."
However, recent years have seen a radical transformation, especially with the advent of the Trump administration, which spotlighted China's exploitation of U.S. economic openness. This laid the groundwork for a growing consensus that a unipolar or unchallenged global hegemony was unsustainable.
