The enforcement aims for a dual purpose: to remove criminal elements and to restore order by addressing the mentally disturbed and homeless populations alike. Success stories from recent efforts highlight progress—since an executive order signed in March, the U.S. Park Police have successfully removed 70 homeless encampments across federal parks in D.C. Currently, only two remain under the jurisdiction of the National Park Service, with their removal scheduled for this week.
