Since electric vehicles generate zero fuel consumption and conventional vehicles are becoming more efficient, the traditional tax base is eroding. Only around 57% of the revenue collected from fuel excise is reinvested directly into land transport projects, highlighting a growing disconnect between revenue sources and infrastructure needs.
