The findings were alarming to liberal elites: about 30% of Americans either agreed or strongly agreed with statements such as "The U.S. government should declare America a Christian nation," or "God has called Christians to exercise dominion over all areas of society." Even more striking, over half (52%) of non-white Protestants supported Christian nationalist ideals. This indicates a rapid and widespread shift in public opinion, revealing that Christian nationalism is not a fringe movement but an increasingly mainstream sentiment.
