Ironically, every dollar channeled into military expansion is a dollar diverted from addressing China's domestic issues. The country faces a host of internal challenges: a slowing economy, a rapidly aging population, and widespread economic disparities. Instead of investing in solutions that could foster sustainable growth and social cohesion—such as healthcare reform, technological innovation, and economic diversification—resources are bolstered in military hardware and capabilities.
Such priorities may undermine the very stability China seeks to assert externally, risking internal decline as economic woes deepen.
