Part 6/10:
Open Society vs. Closed System
The American model flourishes on openness—immigration, dissent, a free press, and the flourishing of ideas. Citizens protest, journalists scrutinize, comedians mock authorities, and innovation thrives in chaos and diversity. This openness fuels competition and creativity, even with imperfections and inequalities.
In China, truth is suppressed—journalists are imprisoned, books are banned, the internet is censored, and dissent is dangerous. Platforms like Twitter and YouTube are inaccessible, and even mundane memes are censored if they touch on sensitive issues. The Chinese system filters and erases ideas to maintain social harmony and control, creating a society where knowledge is managed rather than cultivated.
