Part 4/7:
The Yankees had multiple opportunities to regain momentum. In the sixth inning, with runners on base, Jazz Chisholm grounded out — but neglected to run out the play, and an ensuing double play grounded ball was booted by Jazz, allowing Toronto to extend their lead. This mistake was costly, as runners moved into scoring position, and later, Nathan Lucas singled to push the advantage further for the Blue Jays.
Defensive lapses continued into the seventh and eighth innings, with Yankees unable to capitalize on offensive opportunities. Stranding runners and failing to deliver clutch hits plagued their efforts. In the bottom of the eighth, with two outs and the bases loaded, the Yankees hoped for a rally but were thwarted when Austin Wells flew out on the very first pitch.
